Rolland’s Life

My Life

Surprise!

The other day I was at the Grand Canyon. It is funny how this big hole in the ground has played in my family over the years. My grandfather was in love with the canyon and the southwest desert. To the point he painted many landscapes of the area and the Indian culture from Arizona.2009-11-301

Over this past weekend, my mom planned a surprise birthday party for my dad. And to her and my sister’s credit they pulled it off. He was completely surprised, least that is what he tells us. It is no doubt he was surprised by all that family that was there. To be honest, so was I. Many that I had not seen in years that live locally in Arizona to those from all over the country. The look on his face when he was figuring out who all was there was priceless.

The party was attended not only by us, but our parent’s extended family of friends. More than eighty people were there and it was simply just a really cool time together. Now my dad walked into a room thinking he was attending someone else’s birthday party, and quickly the rest of his day and the following two days were fully booked for him, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! We went to my sister’s house and just got to relax and spend time together as a family. With all those grand (and great grand) kids running around I was amazed at how awesome they all are. Seriously, they are just amazing little people and it is good to know our family is deep and wide with good people coming up.

We didn’t stay up too late since mom had planned for a day trip to the Grand Canyon for the next day. Dad got to do all the driving! Now I know those vans are supposed to hold 15 people, but they must be very small people. They are about as comfortable as a Korean cab! Most certainly not designed for trips longer than 14 minutes, HAHA. But, we made it up to the canyon and back no worse for wear. If anything, it was fun because I got to know everyone better just listening to them.

Overall it was a pretty awesome experience for me.

Apple use to be easier

I remember when syncing my Mac was easy. But lately, syncing with Mobile me has been a real pain in the ass. Not sure why, but it seems like they are having trouble again. Not even talking about 3rd party syncing, I am talking about iCal & contacts with Address-book. It is very annoying, and the online help with Apple is worse then going to the Apple store and trying to figure anything out with anyone other then the Genius people.

Even software updates are becoming more often and very microshit acting. What is going on over there in Cupertino? Very sad with this lack of service.

I have wasted over 2.5 hours today already just on trying to sync my calendars between this air and the imac. This is beyond stupid.

Zambian VP Kunda: Report Homosexuals to the Police

WWJD?

Zambian VP Kunda: Report Homosexuals to the Police: ”

In parliament this week, Zambian VP George Kunda told officials  that the government knew of people who had married to hide their homosexuality, and instructed people to report those people to the police, according to a Zambian news outlet.

Kunda
Said Kunda: ‘Zambia is a Christian nation and it shall continue to be so because it
is part of our constitution. And acts such as homosexuality are not
part of the Christian norm. In 2005, this house passed stiff laws
against homosexuality. For people having carnal knowledge of each other
against the order of nature the punishment is a minimum of 15 years
imprisonment. If you have carnal knowledge of an animal you serve a
minimum of 25 years…I know there are some prominent people in our society who are
practicing homosexuality, some of them are engineers, some are lawyers
and some are journalists. If you have information about such people, report them to the law
enforcement agencies. There are also some people who are bisexual and
they marry to cover up their activities, but at the end of the day we
know them.’

The news outlet, Behind the Mask, also reported cries of ’shame’ during Kundas statement, as well as laughter.
