Rolland’s Life

My Life

To PC, or Not to PC?

Recently, I have had to move much of my business work to PC. In the world of real estate everyone and everything is done on PC. It has been a battle to stay on a Mac, but I am just tired of it. And now that I have a partner in business it just makes sense to go ahead and move to PC.

One program I have always loved from MS is their “One Note” It is such a cool program, and I have much of it figured out now. Still working on the shared notebook thing but I hope I am onto the solution. Once I have that down, working between us will be so much easier! Hoping that it can be fixed with dropbox, if it is then all will be good!

One thing I am learning to like is blogging from Word. Seems pretty slick so far and I am finding it enjoyable to research again for posts. Not to mention putting pics and links in as well. This is a short posting because I want to see how this works, more soon.

Intuit hopes new version of Quicken leads to summer of love

Why? Why do we (Mac users) put up with this? This is just stupid.

Intuit hopes new version of Quicken leads to summer of love | MacUser | Macworld: “

One of the more impressive demos I saw at last January’s Macworld Expo involved Intuit’s overhaul of Quicken. It’s been a good long while since Intuit last updated its personal finance management app—more than two years as a matter of fact—and the app Intuit demoed at that January 2008 Expo was supposed to end the update drought. It would feature an entirely new look, an Intel-native architecture, many Leopard-inspired features, and a brand new name—Quicken Financial Life for Mac. And it was all slated to appear, Intuit told me at the time, in the fall of 2008.

PC’s SUX!!!!!

I so want to be back on my Mac all the time. Only thing I like on the pc so far is One Note & Quicken. I have a brand new 4 gig’r PC and it runs like syrup on a cold morning! This thing is frustrating, like I am back in 1989. Here are just a couple things;

  • Can’t run more then 3 things at a time or the whole system goes into slowmo.
  • Have to restart/reboot it at least twice a day.
  • Put it to sleep, and it wakes itself up for nothing and then stays on. So if you put it in case, it wakes up and super heats itself doing nothing. This is really driving me nuts.
  • Vista seems like an okay OS, but it is so damn slow and runs at like 85-90% resources most of the time. No wonder I can’t get anything done with this thing.

It is no wonder that no one can ever get anything done on time. They are stuck in the never ending battle of getting their tools to work.

One note by MS is I think the best program they make. It does what they say it will and does it pretty darn good. Same as Quicken, don’t know why the Mac version can’t. Course, I haven’t tried the latest version of Quicken for Mac, so maybe they got it fixed finally.

I like Outlook, but the Mac version which is called Entourage seems to have been stripped down from its Outlook cousin, again I ask … Why?

Guess I will keep trying with this thing till I can get my new Mac, and then I will make it do what I need no matter what and never look at this PC again. Oh how I miss my Mac. You forget how cool it is that when you open your laptop and everything just works feels like.
