Stupidity running rampent
This is why Glen Beck, and all the others like him are dangerous. They a spoon feeding people with lies and limited information. Being a citizen of this country takes real responsibility. Sadly, all too many of our citizens can not, or more to the point will not read. They got out of school and stopped learning.
If you are going to pick up a sign and march in defense of anything, you should at least know what it is. Otherwise you look like these people, and how can anyone take your message seriously if you can’t even explain it?

Dangerous to dissent? Wonder if that was your opinion a few years ago when the anti-war people were doing the same thing to Bush.
I agree it is annoying when someone argues for or against something when they haven’t read a word of the bill they are defending/attacking. Not one Representative read the Cap & trade bill but they argued vigorously about it. I wonder how many have read HR3200? I read it, have you? This time the Reps have had all summer to read this thing and most haven’t. But boy they have strong opinions one way of the other.
Obama has given scores of speeches telling us what is in HR3200 without ever calling it by name. Yet if you check factcheck.org you discover he apparently hasn’t read it either. I say this rather than yell “liar,” thus giving him the benefit of the doubt. Who has been spoon-feeding him?
Stupidity doesn’t choose a team. Both have it in abundance but neither recognizes it when it’s wearing their colors.
Oh, BTW, FDR appointed the first 3 Czars and the term was invented by the press. Nixon was the first to have a permanent Czar not Reagan. Also Czars are more than simply advisers. This young guy might want to study them a bit more. They are tasked with promoting policy agendas. They do more than simply sit around drinking beer with the President and talking policy. But they do not have unlimited power either.
Yes, I have read the bills and even linked them on this blog so anyone can read them.
My point does not have anything to do with political party or affiliation. My point is that people are running around screaming and shouting about things they don’t know. And that goes for not both sides, but all sides.
Finally, I did know about FDR & Nixon. This post is not in defense of the President, or against him either. He has nothing to do with this. This is about people talking out their ass, and it is wrong if it is this topic or any other and who is in the White house has nothing to do with it.
As to your point that our representatives don’t read the bills is another topic that is just simply criminal. That is their job, to know the issues, know the bills. It is wrong that our citizens don’t know them and that is why we find ourselves where we are today. But, for our elected officials not knowing, is inexcusable.
As for Czar’s, they are tasked with policy promotion and advising. Not sure what is wrong with this or why this is even a point of argument. Other then how cost effective it is to have so many. As for congress being upset that they people are not vetted by them is a weak argument. Who is advising them? Who is vetting them and all these lobbyists? Lobbyists advise and promote policy agendas, and no one knows anything about them other then payed to get their audience.
Glen Beck and others like him are dangerous not because they endorse people to stand up and take a stand. I am a huge supporter of it personally. They are dangerous when they give limited information. All he does is play “cheerleader” and gets the crowd revved up. He doesn’t inform or educate anyone. He talks in sound bytes, and granted it is the responsibility of us to research and find out what is real and what is not, and as a country we fail horribly at this. Same with credit and the economy, most can not and do not and will not do what it takes to understand how it effects them and what they should and can do.
We live in a time that we have unprecedented access to the information. But, we spend out time on youtube watching fart jokes and people walking into signs. Your comment about stupidity is right on and it is exactly what I was saying. We the people need to stop “picking” sides and learn the issues and educate ourselves on them and discuss the facts! If we do I think many would be surprised what we can do. But, listening to millionaires on TV & radio telling us what they think and calling it factual is OUR failure as citizens of this country and as human beings of this world.
PS … Thank you for your comments!
I agree with you on about everything except your point about Beck. I listen to Beck and NPR. Neither regularly or longer than 30 minutes at a time, but enough to be informed. Both frame the news with the facts and enough bias to make you take their side. Both omit facts that would bias the listener against them.
I try to be balanced and research what rials me up. When I look into much of what Beck says I can’t dispute his facts. Maybe the issues where he’s wrong haven’t interested me or I wasn’t listening. My biggest complaint about Beck is that he can say things that are simply facts but with an emotional urgency that sometimes is unwarranted. The dangerous people are those who spew hate and call the President a Nazi or worse. We’ve seen it from the left and now from the right. I don’t see Beck as that kind of dangerous. Michael Moore, I see as dangerous. He twists facts and even changes the facts to make his hate-filled points.
We live in a sound-bite society. A nation of twits who hear the facts in 140 word chunks. Too many facts, too many words, and their eyes glaze over and they start hunting for the next YouTube music video. When Perez Hilton gets more hits than CNN you know we’re off balance.
Just because people are standing up for what goes against what YOU believe does NOT make them idoits! My heart breaks because I see that the writing is on the wall…. I am just tired of people calling names. Beck has a RIGHT to voice his opinion. If you don’t like it, don’t listen to it. I dont listen to ABC or other LEFT extreme news media. I mean I don’t have to agree with you right? or is that where the country is headed.. AGREE with the left and then you are ok… If Bush was in office and people were protesting would you be calling names? It is just another form of hatred. Dont call me a hater and then turn around and be guilty of the same thing! YOU are entitled to your opinions (at least for a little while longer)
IF you do not think that it is only a matter of time before Planned Parenthood is in on the government-run health care you need to look around and see what PP is up to.I would fully protest my money funding abortions. I would fight tooth and nail for the innocent unborn child. I just wish that people could be kind. I am not an idoit because I think there are too many flaws in Obama-care… I think I have a right to voice my desire to have the people that ARE elected to vote the way I wish for them to. THEY ARE MY EMPLOYEE! I have a right to protest if I feel like what is happening is not being heard. Just rememeber it works both ways. You did not see the EXTREME left media come down on the protest that were being held over Prop8 right, becasue they supported it… it was all good and well… Allow people to protest. Sure Beck is not what people that are on the left want to hear, he is speaking from the right… It is still AMERICA! Let the man speak, perhaps listen and find some truth… I mean the whole Van Jones thing.. well that is just craziness… but let’s face it, Beck is right on that one!
Wow!
Did you watch the video? Do you even understand what I was writing about? Or, did you jump to a conclusion? I didn’t call anyone an idiot because of what they believe. I called them an idiot because they DON’T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE PROTESTING ABOUT.
I didn’t say anything about right or left, right or wrong, what they believe or don’t believe. Didn’t make comment about healthcare, the President, policy and/or policy makers. I didn’t defend the interviewer or the interviewee. My point about Glen Beck is he has on more than one occasion (as written about in this blog) been on both sides of many issues, with his opinion changing more on who is in the White House than on the issue at hand. It is no secret that he has given out partial information with less truth and more sensationalism, which he is not the only one guilty of. And because of this, it is my opinion he is an idiot, and I will equally defend his right to speak his opinion if I agree with him or not.
As to Planned Parenthood, Prop8, and (whatever) Van Jones is, I don’t have a clue what any of that has to do with what this post was about. I would be happy to research and discuss it, but it would be helpful to tell me what you’re talking about. I’m sure I didn’t say anything about unborn children. As to “them” being your “employee,” I would love to discuss, but I have had that discussion more than once in the past and when I made this exact point before with reference to the Patriot Act, TSA, military use, Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, interrogation policy, equal rights, healthcare, out of control Corporate actions, Attorney General Gonzales, Vice President Cheney, (and the list goes on and on) I have been told …. “We have to do this. Our government is doing this to protect us, and this is not the time to question our leaders, don’t kick your own team.” Yes, it was the right time to question them. So don’t come screaming at me all of sudden now that you want to ask questions and demand answers. Don’t make accusations that I am saying anything other than what I have said, and putting some spin on it that now because someone else is in a position of power that I am different. That would be you that is doing that. Now all of sudden it is a good idea to question our leaders and hold them accountable, – welcome to the bus! Never too late I say, but do try and stay on topic.
Glen Beck is crazy. I have not said a thing about stopping him from speaking or voicing his opinion. His opinion is whacked, (and in my opinion) those that are too stupid or too lazy to read and comprehend the issues we all face, feed on his opinions and view them as fact.
